Evan's first full week in playgroup
This week's colour theme was yellow. Evan was slightly feverish on Monday, so he skipped school, if not he would have brought home a banana from his teacher. Evan used to call banana "nana". Only just recently he finally called the yellow fruit "banana". I realised that there were many things I did not put in a lot of effort in teaching him to accomplish certain tasks, such as doing certain stuff or pronouncing certain words. As most of the time he would not grasp it straightaway. However sometime later when you already had forgotten what you had taught him, all of a sudden he could do what you thought he could not do. Many words he learnt came from his favourite cartoon "Pocoyo". He has watched the same episodes countless times and still is not bored of it. Every morning without fail, he will ask me, "Pocoyo wake up already?" If I do not want to let him watch, I just tell him that Pocoyo is asleep. Haha.
Back to Apple Tree. On Tuesday and Wednesday, I stayed with Evan throughout playtime, which was close to 45 mins (initial stage) to allow more time for the kids to settle down. When it's time to say goodbye, Evan surprisingly did not shed a tear at all. But when I came back to fetch him, he was in tears. The following day when I told him I had to go, he knew I wouldn't be back for long. (Actually not long lah, only 1 hour, as i stayed for almost an hour) I could see that he tried to hold back his tears, but then in the end he still cried. Heart pain, but no choice. He has to learn to adapt to his new environment.
Fortunately the last two days was better. He still cried when he saw me getting up and leaving. But later the teacher assured me that Evan was doing fine. He did not cry for very long. And he was cooperative throughout the lesson. Phew.. let's hope things will get even better in the weeks to come.
Visiting Candice and her new bundle of joy/Laogong's ex sch mate's baby shower
This week was a happy week. Candice gave birth on Wednesday, so I brought Evan along to pay her a visit at Gleneagles. Bus 502 did not stop at the bus stop just outside the hospital, so I had to walk for close to half an hour from Delfi Orchard all the way down to Napier Road with Evan in tow. Once we reached I bought pancake and soyabean for hungry Evan, as well as a fruit basket for Candice. Then we took a lift up to the ward. I kept Evan busy with "Pocoyo" on Ipad while I chatted with Candice. Her baby was so cute. Too bad I did not take any pictures. In fact this blogpost is going to be very boring, as there are no pictures at all.
Also on Saturday, we attended a baby shower buffet and saw another baby. Brought back memories of tiny Evan when he was a month old. Haha..
That's all for this week's happenings. Will update more on Evan's progress in school and other little-little things that happen in my not-so-exciting life. =)
